The volume of the building that we propose is a prism with an irregular trapezoidal base which curved side traces the shape of the lot where it is located. Due to the ratio between the perimeter and the height of the resulting volume, three of its sides are not very slender. To give the tower a more harmonious proportion, three levels of action were taken:
- Raise the Building and separate it from the ground
- Modify the volume at diferent sides and heights by four vertical cuts across several floors and narrowing inside.
- Establishing a variable length for the ceramic pieces that shape the window sills; and distributing them in height, from long to short, so that they give solidity to the base of the building and lightness to the top.
The ceramic skin provides solar and thermal protection and adapts the building, by means of remote control, to the weather and light conditions. The separation between the glazing and the skin creates a ventilated air chamber and protects the windows from dirt. The building is sober - for its simplicity and repetition of detail - and characteristic - for its vibration, colour variation and mobility.
